What is the difference between the pump and the peristaltic pump? The use scenarios of the two are different. If you need to fill a pool, or irrigate a large cubed storage tank, they are both pumps to use, and their main application is efficiency. On the contrary, in some industries, such as laboratories, pharmaceuticals, medical peristaltic pumps, etc., it is a small flow, accurate transmission, and the main use of precision.

Just as repeated muscle contractions and relaxations allow blood to flow through blood vessels, peristaltic pumps work by relying on the pumping efficiency produced by alternating squeezing/releasing of several rollers along an elastic tube. The extruded fluid in the pipe produces a flow output. When the pressure disappears, the volume increases as the pipe returns to its original state by relying on its own elasticity, creating a vacuum and sucking in fluid. This continuous action is the working principle of peristaltic pump.

Peristaltic pumps pump fluid by alternately squeezing and releasing the pump's elastic delivery hose. Just like squeezing a hose with two fingers, as the fingers move, negative pressure forms inside the pipe and the liquid flows. Peristaltic pump is a pump tube "pillow" shaped fluid formed between two rollers. The "pillow" volume depends on the inner diameter of the pump tube and the geometry of the rotor. The flow rate depends on the product of the three parameters of the speed of the pump head and the size of the "pillow" generated by each turn of the rotor. The "pillow" size is generally constant (except when pumping fluids with particularly high viscosity). Compared with pumps with the same rotor diameter, a larger "pillow" is produced for volume pumps, the volume of fluid transported by the rotor per turn is also larger, but the pulsation is also larger. This is similar to the case of membrane valves. The volume of flow transported by the smaller "pillow" rotor is also smaller at each turn. Moreover, small pump "pillows" formed in rapid succession make the fluid flow more stable. Similar to gear pump.
